Laura Sutta

Laura Sutta is an award-winning fine arts photographer. Her photographs hang in professional offices, public spaces, and private collections in the Bay Area, India and Israel. They have been used on websites, in advertising campaigns, as well as by the Oakland Chamber of Commerce.

Six of her works form part of the Alameda County Art Collection and hang in county buildings.  She was a finalist in the San Francisco Estuary Project Juried Show. Her series, ‘Women at Prayer’ was chosen for the ‘Vacuuming the Tub’ show to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2010, and her work formed part of the Razzle Dazzle show at the Expressions Gallery in Berkeley (2010-11).

During the last three years Sutta has exhibited her art in many public venues, including Pro Arts, Studio One, the Berkeley Arts Center, the Malonga Center for the Arts, Oakland Marriott,  Alameda County Law Library, the Lake Merritt Rotary Nature Center,  Lionel J. Wilson Building, and  the Rock, Paper, Scissors Gallery in Oakland and at Afikomen and Chochmat Halev Synagogue in Berkeley.

Her work has received favorable mention by DeWitt Chang of the  East Bay Express, and Annalee Allen of the Oakland Tribune.

Born and educated in the US, she lived abroad, primarily in Israel, for twenty-three years.  She has an MSW and an MPH from UC Berkeley and taught and directed university and in-service training courses in the States, Germany and in Israel.

In 1992 she fell ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Unable to work for many years, she learned to appreciate stillness in life and in nature, and cultivated an unusual eye for beauty.
